The short answer is YES -- but here are some statistics and information from the recent "Top Takeaways from the Global State of Digital 2022's July Statshot" report from Hootsuite and We Are Social that show why Facebook is still important for businesses and organizations.

Let's start with what we already know...the huge reach of social media. There are 4.7 billion social media users worldwide. That is a staggering number and comprises about 59% of the total population. Social media continues to be an excellent platform to reach a very large audience.

Facebook remains the most-used social media platform by far, but how has the emergence of TikTok impacted Facebook? Well first, the popularity of TikTok's "short, entertaining, and less polished videos" has sparked an increased audience for Facebook Reels. In fact, the ad audience of Facebook Reels has increased 279% in just the past 3 months. This means you can reach 473.5 million users by creating ad content using Facebook Reels.

Facebook is also the platform used most to access digital news. Worldwide, 44% of survey respondents said they use Facebook to access news content, as compared to other social platforms. Surprisingly, people are 2.5 times more likely to go to social media for new than printed newspapers and magazines, and Facebook reigns supreme. So advertising where people are getting their daily news is a no-brainer. And don't forget to share industry-related news articles in your social posting to increase your interaction with this news-hungry audience.

And finally, because Facebook is great for link-sharing, it is the best platform for driving "TONS of web traffic" to your company's or organization's website. Statistics show that 75.27% of web traffic referrals from social media come from Facebook. So Facebook posts are not just for raising brand awareness, but also to get consumers to your website where your can convert them into leads or customers.
