🍂 Fall Into Your Autumn Digital Marketing 🍁

by Dawn Varga

September 22, 2021

The change in the weather, fall-themed decorations, sending the kids off to school, and the start of the football season are all indications that Autumn is upon us. And Autumn is an ideal time to put extra effort into your business' digital marketing. As summer winds down, consumers begin shifting their focus to the upcoming holiday season. Your business should take advantage of everything the fall season has to offer with these 5 Autumn digital marketing ideas:

1. Show You Are a Business That Cares

The holiday season is a time for giving. Show consumers that you are a business that cares for the community by sponsoring a local canned food drive for a local food pantry, having your employees participate in a fundraising walk-a-thon, donating goods or services to charitable organizations for auctions or raffles, or adopting a local family in need by providing them with a Thanksgiving meal. Share information and photos on social media and your website to spread awareness, encourage participation, and promote the season of giving.

2. Offer Fall-Themed Deals

There are so many Autumn occasions that you can use in your seasonal promotions. Offer back-to-school savings, provide a discount coupon on the back of high school football game tickets, publish an ad in the game program, or run a deal-of-the-season campaign on social media. Besides the standard Halloween and Thanksgiving deals, you can even celebrate new "holidays" with fun promotions such as "Pumpkin Spice Savings" or a "Sweater Weather Sales Event".

3. Get Consumers To Interact on Social

Getting consumers to interact online can be a challenge. Consider launching and interactive campaign such as an Instagram photo contest offering a free gift to the winner, post a poll on Facebook having users predict the winner of the next college football game, or host an online shopping party by inviting your followers to view new products with special promotions or giveaways.

4. Make Sure Your Reviews Are Tip-Top

As the holiday season approaches, more shoppers will be researching and shopping online for their seasonal items and holiday gifts. Make sure when they are searching for your product or service that they find you business with lots of positive referrals from your satisfied customers. Take the time to invest in gathering reviews by asking happy clients to share their opinions online on Google, Facebook or Yelp. Make it easy for them to do so by providing a direct link via text or email or through a reputation management application or service.

5. Add Fall Content To Your Online Assets

Celebrate "Autumness" by updating you website, storefront and social profiles with fall themes. Use warm and cozy fall colors to stand out and share in the spirit of the season. Halloween and Día de los Muertos can provide a multitude of entertaining and eye-catching imagery for your campaigns. If you have fun with it, it is most likely consumers will enjoy it as well.

These are just a few ideas to get your Autumn business marketing ideas flowing. 5 Building Blocks to Create Compelling Marketing Messages

Looking for a surefire way to make your marketing messages stand out? Find out how to ensure your messages get heard above the noise.

If you’ve spent any time researching marketing messages, you already know that there is an overwhelming amount of information at your disposal, and for good reason. Your message is what introduces your service to the world, and you may only have one chance to get it right with your potential clients before they move on to the next thing.

But before you fall down the rabbit hole full of marketing “quick tips,” you should know that a marketing message is only as good as its foundation. You can simplify the process when you understand the following five steps and use them as the building blocks to create compelling marketing messages for your business.

1. Know your audience

Before you decide what to say, you have to know whom you’re talking to. Your ideal customers have goals, motivations and frustrations that your offering can address. You need to gain a deep understanding of who they are, what they value and what they need to help take them where they want to go. There is a mountain that your client is trying to climb; you need to identify what this is so that you can provide him or her with the right tools to get to the other side.

The key to understanding your audience is to build a detailed ideal customer profile. You may have some grasp on what makes your target audience tick, but to gain a true understanding, you need to listen to them. The good news is that finding your ideal customer and hearing his or her struggles is now easier than ever before.

First, build your ideal customer profile. Be specific and really dig into the weeds in this activity. Not only do you want to identify the customer's larger goals and pain points, but you’ll also want to list his or her demographic information such as age, location and education level.

Once you’ve gotten clear on who your customer is, it’s fairly easy to figure out where your customer likes to “hang out” in order to gain more insight. For instance, if your customer is a working mother of young children, you can follow social media that targets this audience and listen to the conversations taking place on those accounts. Don’t just eavesdrop; be present and actively engage to better learn your client’s struggles and how to speak his or her language.

You can't say no to a corn chip topping!

Ingredients:

  • strips of bacon, chopped
  • cloves garlic

  • fresh jalapenos, chopped, plus more for garnish

  • 8 oz. blocks cream cheese, softened

  • 1/3 c. mayonnaise

  • 1/3 c. sour cream

  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper

  • 8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 c. crushed, thick yellow corn tortilla chips, plus more chips for serving

  • Sliced, toasted baguette, for serving

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Heat a 10” cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook for 8-10 minutes until crispy. Remove from the heat and transfer the bacon to a paper-towel lined plate to drain. Remove all but a thin layer of bacon grease from the skillet (about 2 tablespoons remaining).
  2. Return the skillet to medium heat. Add the garlic and jalapeno. Cook 2 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from the heat. Add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir or whisk until smooth. Stir in about two-thirds of the bacon.
  3. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese all over the top of the dip, followed by the crushed chips. Bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are bubbly and the cheese is melted all over. Top with the remaining cooked bacon and extra slices of jalapeno. Serve with more tortilla chips and toasted baguette.
